How to Apply as an International Applicant
The Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography welcomes international applicants and evaluates them using the same criteria as local applicants. Admission is based on both academic performance and a creative portfolio.
If you have completed an international curriculum or studied within a foreign education system, it is your responsibility to ensure your qualifications are evaluated by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) before registration. For more information, please visit www.saqa.org.za.
Applicants must first be accepted into the chosen programme, to register at The Stellenbosch Academy. We recommend all international applicants to submit application and secure acceptance before November 2025. Please note that your place in the programme is only guaranteed once the administration fee has been paid, and the student profile registration process is complete.
English Language Proficiency
English is the official language of instruction at the Stellenbosch Academy. All lectures, briefs, notes, and assignments are conducted in English. As such, students are expected to demonstrate strong English language skills to participate fully in academic writing, presentations, and practical projects.
International applicants from non-English-speaking countries may be required to take an English Language Proficiency test. This assessment ensures that applicants are able to read, write, speak, and understand English at a level necessary to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment.
