Introduction to Printmaking

(10 hours WEEKEND WORKSHOP) – R2000

  • This course aims to create a relaxed, supportive environment for participants to explore their creativity and develop new skills. It is ideal for anyone seeking inspiration or a refreshing boost to their crafting practice.

    The course will focus on printmaking using collagraph techniques, with a theme developed to guide and inspire the group. This theme will be linked to a current event, providing a point of connection for the participants (this will be confirmed closer to the course date). This course is designed to offer both practical skills and creative inspiration, allowing participants to immerse themselves in the world of printmaking in a relaxed, collaborative setting. Whether you're a beginner or have some experience, this workshop will provide the tools and techniques to expand your artistic practice.

    Day 1:

    • Studio Set-Up and Overview

    • Demonstration: Test Prints Using Collagraph Textures

    • Design Planning: Developing Your Print Design

    • Collagraph Plate Preparation

    • Clean-Up

    Day 2:

    • Introduction to Paper Selection

    • Introduction to Ink Types and Application

    • Creating a Registration Template for Printing

    • Printing Your Collagraph Plates

    • Final Clean-Up
